Academy system is a training method that divides freshmen into four academies after Fudan University established Fudan College in 2005, disrupts the professional arrangement of classes, and implements wide caliber and thick foundation. The names of the academies are all taken from the old principals who had a great influence on Fudan. Zhide Academy was named in memory of Ma, the founder and first president of Fudan University. "Wisdom and virtue", from its meaning, means being clear-headed and virtuous. President Ma devoted his life to the education in China. His perfect personality and educational philosophy are the fine traditions that the College of Arts and Sciences hopes to restore. His glorious life course, firm ideals and beliefs and noble spiritual temperament are examples for every Fudan person to learn and forge ahead.

Font and theme color of college logo: represented by calligraphy Qin Zhuan. Qin Zhuan is the first generation of Chinese characters after Qin Shihuang unified China. From the initial understanding of writing, it has been standardized as a font and writing method, which is the origin of writing culture. The theme color is green.
