Medical education in Zhengzhou University originated from the National Fifth Sun Yat-sen University 1928. 1952 established Henan medical college independently, and 1984 changed its name to Henan medical university. The former Zhengzhou University was founded in 1956, and the first comprehensive university established in New China 196 1 merged into Zhengzhou Normal University, and 199 1 merged into Huanghe University.
