Beijing Normal University is a national key institution of higher learning featuring teacher education, educational science and humanities. Our school's predecessor was Shi Jing Normal School, which was founded in 1902. 1908 was renamed as "Shi Jing Senior Normal School", and 19 12 was renamed as "Beijing Normal School". 1923, the school was renamed as Beijing Normal University, which is the first normal college in China. 193 1, Fu Jen Catholic University and Beiping Women's Normal University merged into Beijing Normal University.

For more than 100 years, Beijing Normal University has shared the same fate with the great cause of independence, freedom, democracy and prosperity of the Chinese nation, and patriotic movements such as the May 4th Movement and the December 9th Movement have played a very good role in promoting it. Li Dazhao, Lu Xun, Liang Qichao, Qian, Wu,, Chen Yuan, Hou Wailu, Bai Shouyi,,, Wang, Zhou Tingru and many other celebrities have taught in Hong Wen. For more than 100 years, our school has taken "patriotism and progress, honesty and simplicity, being realistic and innovative, and being a teacher" as its school purpose, "learning from the times, taking morality as its foundation" as its school purpose, and "self-cultivation, family harmony and helping the people" as its school purpose.
