How to Practice College English Listening
1, primary intensive listening

Our practice goal is to understand words, phrases, short sentences, pay attention to pronunciation, learn stress, weak reading and so on. Listen to sentences or clauses by dictation, understand everything, and write them down to the point of punctuation.

2. Advanced intensive listening

We still use the method of dictation, and listen to it many times in units of multiple sentences, but we must listen to it many times, gradually increasing from one sentence to two or three sentences. We keep practicing until we listen to it three times and write down six sentences or 30 seconds.

3. Listening comprehension.

At this time, we should concentrate on understanding the meaning of the sentence, and the difficulty of selecting materials should be moderate. Some places you don't understand need to stop and dictate, so that you can understand the relationship between the previous paragraph and the previous sentence after listening to the whole article.

4. Try oral translation.

Adjust the speed of listening materials, adjust the materials you can understand to 1.2 times, or even 1.5 times, continue to listen attentively and learn to take notes.

5. Listen widely

Extensive reading should be placed after intensive listening as a supplement to intensive listening. Extensive listening is to broaden knowledge. At this time, there is no need to listen carefully to every sentence, as long as you understand the meaning roughly.
