First, the Background

The Department of Architecture of Tongji University originated from the Department of Civil Engineering of Tongji University, the Department of Architecture of St. John's University, the Department of Architecture of Zhijiang University and the Department of Architecture of Hangzhou Art College. It was formed by the merger of these departments during the adjustment of national colleges and universities in 1952. From 65438 to 0986, it developed into an architecture and urban planning college composed of four departments: architecture department, urban planning department, art design department, landscape science and tourism management department.

The Department of Architecture enrolls students for the whole country, and has two undergraduate majors: architecture (five-year program) and historical building protection engineering (four-year program), the latter is a new branch of architecture. Among them, architecture is divided into architectural design and interior design. The whole department recruits about 150 undergraduates majoring in architecture and about 15 undergraduates majoring in historical building protection engineering every year (trial recruitment in 2003). The proportion of international students is about 5%.
