Donghai Fisheries Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences is a national comprehensive fishery research institution. Headquartered in Yangpu District, Shanghai, covering an area of about 22,000 square meters, it has experimental research bases in Fengxian, Shanghai, Qionghai, Hainan, Fuding, Fujian, Ganyu, Jiangsu and Ninghai, Zhejiang.
The institute undertakes the overall, basic, key and directional major scientific and technological tasks in China's fishery development, and provides services for China's fishery scientific and technological progress, industry management and industrial development.
Mainly engaged in the development of pelagic and polar fishery resources, estuarine and offshore fishery ecology, fishery resources protection and utilization, fishing and fishery engineering, fishery ecological environment evaluation and protection, aquaculture technology, aquatic genetics and breeding and biotechnology.
Research on aquatic product processing, quality and safety, fishery information and strategy. In the development plan of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, it is determined to build our institute into a national research center for marine and estuarine fisheries.
The Institute has a fishery scientific research team with reasonable discipline structure, high professional quality and strong strength. The Institute currently has 450 staff members, including more than 30 researchers, 60 associate researchers, and 3 national talents project candidates in the new century.
There are 28 experts enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, 5 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 3 chief scientists from the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, 4 leading talents in Shanghai and 2 leading talents in the agricultural field in Shanghai.
The college has established a joint enrollment and training mechanism with Shanghai Ocean University, East China Normal University, China Ocean University, Institute of Oceanography of China Academy of Sciences and Dalian Ocean University, with more than 100 graduate students each year.
