University of international business and economics, Shanghai, located in Shanghai, is the first batch of universities built by the Ministry of Education's "Innovative Practice Base for High-level Internationalized Talents Training", the Ministry of Education's "National Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Heritage Base for Colleges and Universities", the Asia-Pacific Training Center, the Chairman of WTO and the Doctoral Degree Granting Unit. It has been selected into the demonstration base for employment and entrepreneurship of college graduates in Shanghai, the A-level entrepreneurship guidance station of colleges and universities in Shanghai, and the ranks of high-level local colleges and universities under key construction in Shanghai. The school, formerly known as Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, was founded in 1960. 1September 1994, the school was placed under the management of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government by the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. On April 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed university of international business and economics.
