Traffic engineering is an applied subject that studies the planning, design, construction, operation and management of traffic systems. It includes traffic planning, design of traffic facilities and means, traffic management and optimization of traffic system. The research direction of this major includes traffic flow theory, traffic planning and management, traffic control technology, traffic information engineering, traffic transportation system and safety. Graduate students need to have some basic knowledge such as mathematics and physics, and have strong logical thinking ability, problem analysis and problem solving ability.
