The job-hunting dilemma of the unpopular liberal arts major first introduces my background, 985 undergraduate liberal arts major, and my master's degree is in the library and information major of QS top 10 school. Some undergraduate courses are related to library and information science, and master's degrees are a bit interdisciplinary, but they are generally in the liberal arts category. Liberal arts+cold environment+gender women belong to the combination of debuff, and the positions of good units such as state-owned tobacco power grid have been brushed, and even resumes can't pass. Until the end of autumn, I only have one invitation from the bank. Because the bank is a Shanghai investment bank, I didn't know about this business before, and I didn't know until I got the offer. I found that I have to sit at the counter, and the marketing task is very heavy. In the future, I will send marketing advertisements among my relatives and friends. This is the work content and pressure I can't accept, so I fell into self-doubt and confusion and anxiety.
Running away from the bank, I was involved in the examination and compilation. With the belief of escaping from the bank, I embarked on the road of examination and compilation. This is the beginning of another journey. First of all, due to the limitation of major, there are very few positions to choose from. The position in the target province of the national examination has not yet been registered, and there is only one suitable position in the provincial examination. The enrollment ratio is amazing, and the hope of landing is slim; Then I turned my attention to public institutions, brushed the recruitment information released by the Provincial People's Social Welfare Department once a day, and finally waited for the position I am now engaged in-the librarian of provincial public enterprises. The competition for this position is more intense than I expected. There are 400 graduate students majoring in library and information science, and the pressure has soared. After the registration review, I began to study non-stop, collecting real questions and question banks for recruitment in libraries around the country, and learning the basic knowledge of examinations in public institutions. There are many things to learn, but fortunately, the exam was postponed for well-known reasons, giving me two months to study. Finally, I landed with the first written test and the first written test.
A library is not necessarily a paradise. After working, WLB's life must be calm and rhythmic. The working hours are 8: 00- 1 1: 30, 14: 00- 16: 30, and no overtime is required on weekends. Every winter and summer vacation adds up to three months, which gives you enough time to do what you like. As for the job content, my post is an editor. Simply put, it is to contact publishing houses and book companies, prepare a bibliography purchase list for the new school year, and catalog books. I mainly deal with books and computers. Although my work is a bit boring, I am a book lover. I can not only realize the freedom of reading, but also add books I am interested in to the purchase list. This kind of happiness makes me very satisfied. The working atmosphere is not bad. Colleagues around me are of high quality and believe in Buddhism (after all, library work hh). They are generally ten or twenty years older than me and take care of me as a newcomer. The office can be called happiness.
Everyone is most concerned about the income part. The salary of each university is different, but it is the benchmark of institutions as a whole. My income, provident fund and year-end performance are almost several hundred thousand. Of course, my length of service is the shortest, my qualifications are the shortest, and I have no professional title. I will increase gradually in the future, but the increase is very slow. Generally speaking, this income can support oneself. After all, my material desires are not high and I am very satisfied. I can have a sense of security in the cold winter.

Bicycle in front of the library
Don't beautify a road you haven't taken. Seeing this, you may have some yearning for the work of librarians. You think this is your dream job. So in order to enter the library, is it necessary to take the cross-examination or apply for the library and information major?
My conclusion is, be careful.
Although library information is a counterpart major in library work, there are two problems. First of all, the employment of library and information is very narrow, there are few jobs in state-owned enterprises, and there are basically no jobs in national and provincial examinations. The fast-moving Internet and other industries have been added by personal skills and good schools, and the added value of library and information specialty is not great; Secondly, professional libraries and information research institutes have higher and higher requirements for academic qualifications. Most of the library and information research institutes in colleges and universities recruit doctoral graduates, who prefer science and engineering majors such as computers to single library and information majors.
Therefore, if you want to enter the library, then the computer major will have a wider range of employment and more opportunities to enter the library. If you want to brush your academic qualifications and go to a better school for postgraduate study, the library and information major may be cost-effective. I think it is ok to apply for this major in order to get into a good school. Finally, if you really like this industry, I very much welcome you to join the library family.
I want to find a book that every reader likes. In a word, I cherish my present working and living conditions. The goal in the future is to conscientiously perform their duties, do everything well, and make students fall in love with reading. Let every reader find his favorite books, find the right readers for each book, and continue to shine in the library industry.
The above is my simple sharing, I hope it will help you.
