At present, the Oil Painting Department has four studios, graduate department and Technology and Materials Studio, which are used for studio teaching. The Department of Oil Painting has 18 teachers, including 7 professors, 6 associate professors and 5 lecturers. The current dean is Professor Dai Shihe, and the deputy directors are Professor Ma Lu and Associate Professor Chao Ge.
The first studio was established in 1959, presided over by Mr. Wu Zuoren and Mr. Ai Zhongxin successively, and accumulated rich teaching experience and creative achievements. Since the 1980s, Mr. Jin Shangyi, the director of a studio, has presided over the work with a more calm and clear teaching idea, advocating learning from the European painting tradition from the Western Renaissance to the later impressionism, earnestly studying the excellent painting tradition of China, and embarking on a new artistic path on the firm realistic painting tradition. In his creation, he advocates actively going deep into life and sincerely, simply and profoundly embodying the aesthetic value of life. The current studio director is Professor Sun Weimin.
The second studio was established in 1959, presided over by Mr. Luo. Since 1980s, it has been presided over by Mr. Zhao Youping, Mr. Li Tianxiang and Mr. Du Jian. In teaching, we pay attention to combining the heritage of European realistic painting with China's artistic tradition, especially studying the conditional color sketch method and its new development in modern times, and emphasize the combination of strict basic training and students' active exploration. In creation, he advocates going deep into life, refining and tempering on the basis of vivid life feelings, and realizing rich artistic reproduction. The current studio director is Professor Dai Shihe.
The third studio was established in 1959, presided over by Mr. Dong. Since the 1980s, it has been presided over by Mr. Zhan Jianjun. In teaching, it advocates the combination of open and flexible teaching and strict academic requirements, and emphasizes that classroom practice is driven by artistic creativity and the application of objective laws is driven by subjective artistic expression. Students are required to study the development history of ancient and modern China and foreign countries. At the same time, it emphasizes cultivating students to establish their own artistic perspective. In teaching, we advocate and implement the teaching principle of "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and pushing the boat with the current" to cultivate students' artistic personality. It also emphasizes that the cultivation of the spirit of truth, goodness and beauty in students' minds is the basis of artistic individuality. The current studio director is Associate Professor Xie Dongming.
1985, at the initiative of Mr. Wen, then director of the oil painting department, the fourth studio was established, with Mr. Wen as the main director and Mr. Ge as the deputy director. From 65438 to 0997, Mr. Yuan Yunsheng took over as the director of the studio. The teaching aim is to take China's modernization as the ideal, take modern art education thought as the core, take the new teaching mechanism as the guarantee, and take China's painting tradition as the foundation. Based on China and facing the world, we should cultivate talents for the construction of new culture and art in China and develop modern, China and creative oil painting art. In teaching, students are not only required to master the techniques and skills of oil painting, but also to educate innovative thinking and cultivate talents with creativity and ability to explore new knowledge.
Technology and Materials Studio was established in 1994. The course of material technology is a research-oriented practical course. Through teaching and training, students can master one or two ways of expression, and at the same time increase their ability to understand, judge, choose and use traditional oil painting culture, basic knowledge and expressive force of oil painting materials.
The oil paintings of China Academy of Fine Arts are also very good. Compared with the sketch emphasized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the oil paintings of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts pay more attention to color. There are also many good teachers. The overall style tends to post-impressionism. Oil painting department is a teaching and research unit, and its main direction is to study oil painting media as the main means of painting creation. Academic thought: Chinese and western cultures are compatible and complementary, art and theory are equally important, and diversity and innovation are equally important. Its teaching purpose is to focus on cultivating the comprehensive artistic accomplishment of oil painting techniques and theories, with a solid modeling foundation and artistic professionals with creative orientation.
