I. Introduction to the College
Wu Xianming Institute of Intelligent Engineering was jointly founded by South China University of Technology and University of Michigan at ann arbor (the top 20 universities in the world), and named after Professor Wu Xianming, a world-renowned scholar in the field of intelligent engineering. It is one of the first construction institutions in Guangzhou International Campus of South China University of Technology. Facing the world and rooted in China, the College focuses on the major strategic needs of Guangdong and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, mainly focusing on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, intelligent manufacturing and intelligent medical care, and conducts cutting-edge scientific and technological research to provide undergraduate/graduate students with high-quality international education in line with world-renowned universities such as the University of Michigan.
As the first batch of new engineering colleges in Guangzhou International Campus, Wu Xianming Institute of Intelligent Engineering, on the basis of carrying forward the excellent style of study of South China University of Technology, introduces the advanced educational concepts and methods of the University of Michigan in the United States, provides students with solid basic education and cutting-edge scientific research, cultivates students' feelings of home and country, international vision, interdisciplinary vision and career vision, and makes them become a new generation of international, innovative and leading talents.
With a total construction area of 40,000 square meters, the college has the most advanced high-end research platforms such as artificial intelligence, robotics, intelligent manufacturing and 3D printing, as well as advanced teaching platforms such as innovation and entrepreneurship undergraduate laboratories, robotics undergraduate laboratories, intelligent manufacturing undergraduate laboratories and artificial intelligence undergraduate laboratories.
Second, the training objectives
Taking students as the center, facing the huge demand of the national "innovation-driven development strategy" and "new generation artificial intelligence development plan", the college adheres to the school-running philosophy of "global vision, interdisciplinary, innovation-oriented and quality-oriented", integrates the characteristics of the education systems of China and the United States, and strives to cultivate a new generation of talents with internationalization, innovation and professional foresight, who put morality first and develop morally, intellectually, physically and artistically. Wu Xianming, an undergraduate student at the School of Intelligent Engineering:
-Critical thinking ability to find, analyze and solve problems;
-cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural and cross-border written expression and communication skills;
-Teamwork and leadership, with overall view, coordination, inclusiveness and execution;
-Have the skills of lifelong learning and the ability to conduct more in-depth research in the fields chosen in the future.
Third, cultivate characteristics.
(1) The educational system aims at the integration of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students and international joint training.
② English interactive teaching mode and intelligent innovation practice class.
③ Benchmark the curriculum system of the University of Michigan and the requirements of ABET certification in the United States.
(4) Implement a two-semester, three-semester academic system, and flexibly carry out international exchanges and innovative and entrepreneurial practice activities.
⑤ Student-oriented, set up "double tutors" innovative training mode, and pay attention to students' academic guidance and development planning.
⑥ Create the discipline training mode of "artificial intelligence +X", combine theory with practice teaching, and cultivate students' problem-solving ability, teamwork spirit, leadership ability and expression ability in the whole process.
