The school is located in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province. At present, Tang, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Zhu Chuanqu, president of the school, take "being realistic and innovative, being sincere and enterprising" as their motto.
As of July, 2022 18, the school covers an area of 3,004.67 mu, with a building area of 1 1600 square meters and 257 faculty members/person. There are 20 teaching colleges and continuing education colleges, international education colleges and Xiaoxiang College (independent colleges), offering 98 undergraduate majors, 1 1 disciplines;
There are 3 post-doctoral research stations, 8 first-level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 30 first-level disciplines authorized by master degree, and 7 professional master degree authorized categories/kloc-0.
The school was formed by the merger of Xiangtan Institute of Technology and Xiangtan Normal College, the second undergraduate normal university in Hunan Province in 2003. Its school-running history can be traced back to Xiangbei Institute of Architecture, which was founded in 1949.
Xiangtan Institute of Technology was founded in 1978, formerly known as Xiangtan Coal Institute, and is an undergraduate college directly under the former Ministry of Coal Industry. 198 1 renamed Xiangtan Institute of Mining and Technology, 1997 renamed Xiangtan Institute of Technology. Xiangtan Teachers College was founded in 1958, formerly known as Xiangtan Teachers College. 1985 was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Xiangtan Teachers College.
By 2022, Hunan University of Science and Technology will be ranked 192 in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
