The main duties of the National Textbook Committee include: guiding and coordinating the national textbook work, implementing the major principles and policies of the Party and the state on textbook work, studying and deliberating the textbook construction plan and annual work plan, studying and solving major problems in textbook construction, guiding, organizing and coordinating the relevant textbook work in various regions and departments, reviewing the formulation of national curriculum and curriculum standards, and reviewing the textbooks planned by the state with strong ideological attributes.
It is understood that the members of the National Textbook Committee are divided into departmental members and expert members. Department members include Zheng Zeguang, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Xiaotao, Deputy Director of Development and Reform Commission, Huang Wei, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Huang Ming, Vice Minister of Public Security, Yu Weiping, Vice Minister of Finance and Vice Minister.
Experts include Ma Min, former Party Secretary of Huazhong Normal University, Ma Zhiming, researcher of Institute of Mathematics and System Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ma Shuchao, former vice president of Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences, Wang Zhan, former vice governor of Jiangsu Province, and Wei Rong Zhi, editor-in-chief of People's Education Publishing House.
It is reported that the office of the National Textbook Committee is located in the Ministry of Education, and the Textbook Bureau of the Ministry of Education undertakes the office work.
