In terms of discipline construction, the Academy of Biological Sciences now has a first-class discipline in biology and a doctoral program in marine biology in two disciplines, and two national key disciplines with obvious advantages: biophysics, biochemistry and molecular biology. In 2007, the national key discipline of developmental biology was added. At present, there are two key laboratories of science and bioinformatics in protein, namely, Beijing protein Key Laboratory of Drugs, National Engineering Research Laboratory of Antitumor Drugs and National Key Laboratory of Biofilm and Membrane Bioengineering (jointly established). Great progress has been made in structural biology, developmental biology, cell biology, neurobiology, molecular immunology, plant genetic engineering, biomaterials and protein medicine, laying the foundation for the rapid development of the Academy of Biological Sciences. The Academy of Biological Sciences has always regarded the cultivation of graduate students and undergraduates as the top priority of its work.
