China Geo University (Wuhan), referred to as Wuhan for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and co-founded by the Ministry of Education and the Hubei Provincial People's Government. It is a national first-class university built on the advantage innovation platform of 2 1 1 Project and 985 Project, and it is a university approved by the state to set up a graduate school.

1975 moved to Wuhan as a whole and was renamed Wuhan Institute of Geology. 1987, the State Education Commission approved the renaming of Wuhan Institute of Geology as China University of Geology, with its headquarters in Wuhan and Beijing. In 2000, it entered the sequence of universities directly under the Ministry of Education. In March 2005, the university headquarters was abolished and Wuhan and Beijing became independent schools. In 2006, the Ministry of Education signed an agreement with the former Ministry of Land and Resources to establish China Geo University.

The school has Nanwangshan Campus and Future City Campus, with a total area of 1, 474,353 square meters and a total area of 1, 385,752.04 square meters.
