The Department of Archaeology of Jilin University was founded in 1987, with two majors: archaeology and museology.

Among them, the archaeology specialty was founded in 1972, and the museum specialty was founded in 1985. The department has master's and doctoral programs in archaeology and museum science. Professional teachers ***2 1, including 5 professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, 8 associate professors and 8 lecturers.

Archaeology and Museology are disciplines that require strong professional basic theory, basic knowledge and professional practice. Among them, archaeology has been focusing on field archaeological practice teaching and archaeological research in North China, Northeast China and Northeast China, which has won high praise at home and has had many exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign countries, and has had a positive impact.

The research direction is devoted to establishing the chronological order and pedigree relationship of archaeological culture in weak areas; In view of the areas with clear relationship between chronological series and genealogy, this paper focuses on the evolution and motivation of their cultural and economic forms, and analyzes the settlement forms to clarify the development process of ancient society in this area.
