Yunnan University is a double-class university. 1978 Yunnan university was identified as one of the 88 key universities in China by the State Council. 1996 was included in the first batch of national "2 1 1 project" key construction universities. 200 1 was listed as the key construction institution of the western development, and in 2006 54 38+07, it became the first batch of 42 "first-class universities" in China.

Yunnan University has 26 colleges, 10 research institutions, 2 independent colleges, 1 affiliated hospitals and a graduate school.

There are 79 undergraduate majors in Yunnan University, including 17 undergraduate majors in the national "Double Hundred Thousand" plan, 13 undergraduate majors in the provincial "Double Hundred Thousand" plan, 12 undergraduate majors with national characteristics, 6 "elite classes" and "excellent classes"/kloc-0. There are 2/kloc-0 first-class doctoral degrees, 42 first-class master's degrees and 22 professional master's degrees.

In the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, 30 disciplines in the school have entered the top 70% of the country, including 2 disciplines of Class A (A+ for ethnology and A- for ecology) and 4 disciplines of Class B 1% for chemistry, botany and zoology.
