Yili normal university is an ordinary normal school managed by Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which was established for the Ministry of Education, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Jiangsu Province.

Yili normal university's predecessor was 1948, the Ili College of Xinjiang Province. 1953 changed its name to Yili Normal School. 1980 was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college with the approval of the State Council, and was named yili normal university. 20 18 12, renamed yili normal university with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
