1. The predecessor of Xinjiang University is Xinjiang Russian Law, Education and Politics College, which was founded in 1924. Xinjiang College was established in 1935, and Xinjiang University was formally established in 1960. 1979 was identified by the State Council as the only comprehensive national key university in Xinjiang. The school adheres to the motto of "unity, forge ahead, truth-seeking and innovation". From 1993 to 1997, through the project evaluation, it entered the "2 1 1" project construction 100 key universities. In 2000, it merged with Xinjiang Institute of Technology, and the new Xinjiang University entered the new century. Xinjiang University has 14 colleges, including economics, law, humanities, foreign languages, mathematics, chemical engineering, life sciences, information, machinery, electricity, architecture, higher vocational education and adults, and there are 2 departments and 3 departments of physics and textile engineering. Xinjiang University Basketball Team is an old CUBA team with many years of tradition. He participated in the "Three Good Cups" competition for college students in the 1970s, was the runner-up in the first "Friendship Cup" for college students in the late 1980s, and was the second, fifth and second runner-up in the third "Friendship Cup" in the early 1990s, and entered the finals of the National Universiade three times. 2. Xinjiang University of Finance is the only financial institution of higher learning in Xinjiang and one of the five key universities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The school is located in the scenic Beijing Road in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. The total area of the south campus and the north campus is nearly 620,000 square meters.
The school, formerly known as the Xinjiang Provincial People's Government Cadre School, was founded in 1950 and upgraded to Xinjiang Institute of Finance and Economics in 1959. In 2000, the former Xinjiang Institute of Finance and Economics, Xinjiang Economic Management Cadre College, Xinjiang Finance School and Xinjiang Taxation School merged to form a new Xinjiang Institute of Finance and Economics. In 2007, it was officially renamed Xinjiang Finance College.
