Is there a contempt chain between different departments in the same university?
Of course, it is normal that there is a chain of contempt between different departments in the same university.

Take my university as an example. The first contempt chain is between science and liberal arts. In fact, this is not the characteristic of our school. I feel that no matter which university, there are more resources and projects in science, and the funds are sufficient, and the things learned are more practical and useful. However, liberal arts departments are different. Most of them study social sciences, which may have a certain effect on social development, but after all, they do not have direct effects and functions. So science tends to despise liberal arts.

The second chain of contempt is the departments or majors that have strength or rank well in the country, and despise the majors that rank poorly. For example, our school's chemistry major used to rank third in the country, so at this time they will despise the Academy of Biological Sciences, which ranks lower. At this time, the Academy of Biological Sciences will even despise the liberal arts that are not ranked in the domestic rankings.

Therefore, to sum up the above two points, the college of arts and sciences is the lowest in the contempt chain between arts and sciences or departments, but other colleges of arts and sciences are also working hard every year, making great progress in undergraduate teaching and training and striving for doctoral degrees. However, once this contempt chain is formed, it is a relatively obvious and firm prejudice, which will generally not change.

In fact, the existence of contempt chain still proves that there is a problem in a certain discipline or department, so it will be beneficial for all departments to face up to this contempt chain and then strive to develop their own disciplines and departments. Nor will it be despised by other departments.
