It is the main supporting unit of the key laboratory of radiation physics and technology of the Ministry of Education, and has established the online cooperative research center of nuclear science and technology of the Ministry of Education, Sichuan University Sub-center. It is authorized by the first-class discipline of nuclear science and technology, in which nuclear technology and application are national key disciplines and 2 1 1 key construction disciplines.
In 2007-20 12, the Institute undertook a number of national and ministerial-level major and key scientific research projects, including the Tenth Five-Year Plan of the General Armament Department, the 863 Plan, the national science and technology support plan, the innovation fund project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the ITER project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the high-tech industrialization project of the National Development and Reform Commission, the key and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and the cooperation projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency. More than 40 million yuan has been invested in scientific research, more than 300 academic papers have been published, and more than 300 papers 100 have been included in SCI and EI. Some papers were published in internationally renowned journals such as Physical Review Express and Physical Review Series. The institute has won more than 80 national, provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards.
After nearly 30 years' efforts, the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology of Sichuan University has made remarkable achievements in scientific research, technology development, discipline construction and personnel training, which not only occupies a place in domestic related research fields, but also obtains international recognition for some of its work. Five distinctive research directions have been gradually formed: 1) radiation physics and medical physics, 2) collision physics of atoms in clusters and solids, 3) radiation modification technology of materials, 4) isotope and radiation biotechnology, and 5) nuclear monitoring and automatic control technology. The Institute of Atomic and Molecular Physics was established in 1984, which is the main supporting unit of the national key discipline of atomic and molecular physics. The specialty of Atomic and Molecular Physics was awarded with the authorization point of 1985 for doctoral degree, 1988 as the only national key discipline of Atomic and Molecular Physics, and won the national key discipline again in 20001and in 2007. The Institute of Atomic and Molecular Physics has a well-structured and capable high-level research team, including 7 doctoral supervisors, professors 1 1, 3 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province and "outstanding talents in the new century" 1 by the Ministry of Education.
The institute has strong scientific research strength and long-term friendly cooperation with China Academy of Engineering Physics. Co-established Institute of High Temperature and High Pressure Physics and Institute of Atomic and Molecular Engineering with China Academy of Engineering Physics. Mainly engaged in atomic and molecular physics under high temperature and pressure, theoretical and applied research of atomic and molecular physics, cluster physics and atomic and molecular design and high-pressure synthesis of new materials, large cavity static high pressure technique and transient spectroscopy technology, atomic and molecular physics of biological condensed state, preparation and behavior of high-performance nano/amorphous materials, new energy materials under high pressure and other fields. By 2 1 century, the research on atomic and molecular physics problems raised in advanced national defense science and technology and major national basic projects has been further strengthened, providing some theoretical achievements and data for related fields.

The Key Laboratory of High Energy Density Physics and Technology (Class B) of the Ministry of Education was approved in May 2008. The director of the academic committee of the laboratory is Lin Xiangdi, an academician of China Academy of Engineering, and the director of the laboratory is Professor Gong Min. Focusing on the development plan of national defense science and technology, relying on the two first-class disciplines of our university, as well as the national key disciplines of atomic and molecular physics, nuclear technology and application and condensed matter physics, the laboratory conducts research on key basic theories and applied basic technologies in related fields of high-energy density physics, providing basic technical support for the research of high-energy density physics in China and cultivating high-level talents. The main research directions in the laboratory are: theory and technology of intense laser beam transmission and control, shooting science and thin film and ceramic technology, atomic and molecular physics and technology under intense field, high temperature and high pressure, and theory and technology of interaction between intense laser and plasma.
The laboratory has a teaching and research team with reasonable structure and high level, with more than 50 researchers (including academician 1 person, 30 professors/researchers, 5 selected by the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" of the Ministry of Education and 20 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province). In the above four research directions, a dynamic research team with strong innovative scientific research ability has been formed. Since its establishment in 2008, the laboratory has undertaken more than 50 projects such as National Defense 973,863, National Defense Key Laboratory Fund, Natural Science Fund, etc., with research funding of180,000 yuan, published nearly 200 academic papers, and included more than 100 papers in SCI, including 8 papers with impact factors greater than 3.0.
