Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is a national high-quality college, a high-level vocational college with China characteristics, a professional construction project construction unit, the first batch of national demonstration vocational education group training units and the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education.

The school, formerly known as Guangdong Chinese Herbal Medicine School, was founded in June 1965, and the school is located in Saibakou, Guangzhou. /kloc-moved to Jiang Lan road in March, 1974, and was renamed as the first branch of Guangdong Commercial Technical School; In September, 1979 was changed to Guangdong Medical Technical School; Guangdong Medical Workers' Technical Secondary School was established in 1983, and co-founded with Guangdong Medical Technician College.
