The Historical Evolution of Adult Education College of Hunan University
The predecessor of Hunan University is Yuelu Academy, one of the four major academies in Song Dynasty, which was founded in the ninth year of Kaibao in Song Taizu (AD 976). After the changes of the times in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has always maintained the continuity of culture and education. 1903 Yuelu Academy was transformed into Hunan Higher Education, and 1926 was named Hunan University. 1937 became one of more than ten national universities of the Ministry of Education of the National Government. Zhang Wei, a famous philosopher in the Southern Song Dynasty, presided over the Academy, which formed a famous Huxiang School in the academic history of China and established a fine tradition of patriotism and pragmatism. From Yuelu Academy to Hunan University, this sacred place for educating people has cultivated countless talents who have applied themselves to the world. Comrade Mao Zedong, the founding leader, has stayed in Yuelu Academy several times to explore the truth of saving the country and the people, and he is a man of lofty ideals. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Central People's Government appointed Li Da, a famous philosopher and educator, as the first president of Hunan University after liberation, and President Mao Zedong personally wrote the name of the university. 1953, adjustment of state departments.
