He said: "If Buddhism wants to flourish, it must start with education." Elder Jueguang recalled that when he went to study in Guanzong Temple in Ningbo in 1930s, he saw Master Baojing establish Guanzong Compulsory School to educate poor children who dropped out of school. Master Bao Jing's idea of running a school had a far-reaching influence on Elder Jueguang, and laid an important seed for his later school. Elder Jueguang has always believed that young people learn Buddhism for self-interest and altruism. At that time, the streets and lanes of Hong Kong after War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression were full of orphans. 1949, Master Jueguang joined forces with the four major Buddhist colleges in Hong Kong to establish a China Buddhist College, which enrolled students and offered free classes to primary school students, becoming the first school run by the Hong Kong Buddhist Federation. Since then, Elder Jueguang has been planning and leading the establishment of many schools. Under the influence of Elder Jueguang's thought, more than 100 Buddhist primary and secondary schools, kindergartens and special schools have been established so far. Elder Jueguang once declared that the purpose of education is to "purify people's hearts and eliminate evil"; Young people learn Buddhism from teenagers, which is both self-interested and altruistic. Concentrated study can eliminate troubles and inspire wisdom, while caring for life, being kind to others and benefiting all beings. The elders hope that through education, young people can cultivate their temperament, establish a sound personality and outlook on life, immerse themselves in Buddhism, spread Buddhism and serve the society under the inspiration of Buddhism. Elder Jueguang believes that Buddhist education has innovative ideas, which make up for the deficiency of modern education and can be completely combined with modern education. Elder Jueguang also earnestly hopes that students who receive education in the Buddhist College will meet the needs of life and work with practical knowledge, good moral character and tough psychological quality and create a beautiful, harmonious and happy life in a competitive society in the future.

1996, Elder Jueguang held the signatures of 800,000 citizens and solemnly requested the government to make the Buddha's birthday a legal holiday. His wish was finally officially realized after the reunification, which also aroused the requirements of Buddhists in Taiwan Province Province and Macau for the Buddha's birthday holiday.
