Shao Jiayi and his wife Wang Haiyang were childhood friends. They met in Beijing Lucheng Sports School, and Wang Haiyang was a middle-distance runner in the track and field team. On June 2, 2004, Shao Jiayi and Wang Haiyang received marriage certificates from the Consulate General of China in Munich during their work in Munich 1860. On June 22nd, 2004, Shao Jiayi and Wang Haiyang got married in Beijing International Hotel.

In June 2005, Shao Jiayi's first daughter Shao Liangqing was born in Munich. On August 23rd, 2007, Shao Jiayi and his wife Wang Haiyang welcomed their second daughter, named Shao. On June 27th, 2009, Shao Jiayi took part in a networking activity for the players and fans of Cottbus Club.

On June 24th, 20 12, Shao Jiayi, Xu Liang, Xu Yunlong and Zhou Ting, members of Beijing Guoan team, attended the online game "Soccer World 2" promotion activities endorsed by them.
