Academy is a special educational institution in ancient China, just like our primary schools, middle schools and universities. It first appeared in the Tang Dynasty, but at that time, the officially sponsored academy seemed to be just a palace library, and it didn't have much lecture function. Instead, some private universities exist among the people. These colleges have initially had the function of teaching, and began to accept some students and teach courses.

Ancient academy

Academies flourished in the Song Dynasty, and a large number of private academies sprang up like mushrooms after rain. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, Bailudong Academy in Lushan, Jiangxi, Yuelu Academy in Changsha, Hunan, Yingtian Academy in Shangqiu, Henan, and Songyang Academy in Songshan were called "Four Ancient Chinese Academies". Each of the four academies has its own merits.

The academy is somewhat similar to our current university, focusing on educating elites and people with certain knowledge. Those who study in the academy are mainly self-taught, and the guidance of teachers only plays an auxiliary role. The most important form of education it creates is the "lecture" system, that is, an academic debate held by a large group of people. Here are some

Ludong Academy is located in Wulaofeng, Lushan Mountain. Legend has it that there was a man named Li Bo in the Tang Dynasty. He studied here in seclusion when he was young. Li Bo keeps a pet, not a cat or a dog, but a white deer. After getting along with people for a long time, this white deer has become very human. When its owner tells it to go to the East, it will never go to the West. When its owner tells it to stand, it will never lie down, and it can even help its owner deliver things. People are surprised by this and call it "magic deer". Therefore, Li Bo is called "Teacher Bailuyuan".

Later, Rip became a big official. When he was young, he often missed his time at school, so he built some pavilions here, which were later called "White Deer Cave". There is no cave in Baidong, just because the terrain is low, and it looks like an underground cave from the mountain. Some people thought it was called "hole" in Ming Dynasty, but there was no "hole". It is really not worthy of the name, so they dug a cave in the mountain; Others thought it was inappropriate to call it "White Deer Cave" instead of "White Deer Cave", so they carved a white deer out of a stone and put it in the cave. However, everyone's opinion is always different. Some people think that there is no need to dig a hole to release the deer, so they invite the white deer out of the hole and bury it deep underground. In modern times, people accidentally dug up the white deer from the ground, so they put it next to the cave.

In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, Dasong had just walked out of the haze of war, and scholars were thirsty for knowledge. However, at that time, education was completely destroyed, the official school had just started, and non-governmental organizations such as colleges took advantage of it. When the regime was stable and various fields flourished in the Northern Song Dynasty, academies were gradually replaced by official schools, which remained silent for more than a hundred years until the Southern Song Dynasty.

Bailudong College is no exception, but it is very lucky. This year, Master of Science Zhu came to Bailudong Academy. Deeply moved by the sight of weeds everywhere, broken walls ordered the restoration of Bailudong Academy, so that Bailudong Academy could be reborn again. A set of teaching theories and methods he created in Bailudong Academy were imitated by other academies, and the academy developed to the extreme in the Southern Song Dynasty. Zhu established the academic status of Bailudong Academy in the following 700 years until the end of the imperial examination system in Qing Dynasty, and was called "the first academy on the sea".

After the ups and downs of Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty ordered the academy to be changed into a school on 190 1, and began to imitate the western reform education, so the academy withdrew from the historical stage.
