Xiamen University (XMU for short) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), a national key university under the "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", and a national key university under the "201Plan". It was selected into "11plan", "Everest plan", "excellent engineer education and training plan", "excellent doctor education and training plan" and the national public postgraduate plan to build a high-level university. It is a national 3 1 junior high school. The school was founded in 192 1 by Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. It is the first university founded by overseas Chinese in the history of modern education in China, and it is also one of the earliest universities in China to recruit graduate students. Known as the "Southern Power".
