The College of Education was established in June 20 13, replacing the previous College of Education. It is located in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The College of Education will have a strong research focus and will focus on providing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The college will continue its 57-year tradition.

The former Institute of Education passed the QS (Quality Standard) ranking system evaluation and ranked 50th among universities and colleges/institutions in the world. More than 80% of the teachers have doctorates, and the rest are trying to complete their doctorates. The proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees is among the highest in the education colleges/institutions of New Zealand universities.

The College of Education offers comprehensive postgraduate courses throughout New Zealand. These courses are open to global enrollment, including master of English leadership in teaching other languages (global), master of educational management and leadership, master of expert education (serving special needs) and master of consulting.

In addition, the college of education can also offer related postgraduate majors: mathematical pedagogy, gifted education, aboriginal education, preschool education, school/educational psychology, cultural quality education and e-learning.

At the undergraduate level, the College of Education offers related majors: preschool education, English as a foreign language education and special education.
