They should have considered it repeatedly when making this choice, but they finally chose to teach in poor and remote rural areas. Young volunteers from Xiamen University began to support poor and remote primary schools from 1999. Up to now, 22 years of volunteer activities have also improved the conditions for running schools for children in the village. From the cold caves to the tile-roofed houses that have begun to take shape, and now to the multimedia classrooms, all these small changes are the efforts of the young volunteers of Xiamen University, and they stand on the podium to tell the children about their knowledge and encourage them to study hard and see the vast world outside.
The conditions in the village are very difficult, because the weather is cold and very dry, so many people will have some adverse reactions, such as nosebleeds. Moreover, because of the lack of local resources, it is very normal to lack water and power, but this has not defeated young volunteers, but also made them more determined to stay here and open up a new world. They believe that as long as they contribute their own strength, more people will be lifted out of poverty.
The dedication of the young volunteers of Xiamen University is very touching, because after getting a good education, they did not choose to use their major to find a suitable job related to their major and take a high-paying job. Instead, we choose to feed our knowledge back to the next generation of children, which also makes the development of our country full of hope, because children are the hope of the next generation of the motherland. If knowledge is spread to remote areas, then children in remote areas will have more hope to go to school, and they will become useful people to society instead of doing nothing to farm, and they will have more hope for their future.
