This doctoral program is the first-class subject of Yangzhou University, "China Language and Literature", and it is the doctoral program of two subjects. The "communication" in the title "Comparison and Communication between Chinese and Foreign Languages and Cultures" is intended to explore the common laws and their functions. According to the development of the discipline and the needs of the talent society, the research directions of this discipline include comparative linguistics, comparison of Chinese and foreign literary theories and cross-cultural communication. From the perspective of cross-cultural research, break the barriers between language and culture, and explore hidden theories through comparison. Introduction to English Language and Literature
This subject was established with the approval of the State Council Academic Degree Office in 20001year, and was officially enrolled in 2002. This subject has three research directions: English linguistics, British and American literature, translation theory and practice. English linguistics mainly studies and introduces contemporary English linguistics theories, including semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, second language acquisition theory, systemic functional grammar, cognitive linguistics and so on. This direction always emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, and explores the elaboration and research of traditional problems from a new theoretical perspective in order to improve learners' perception and understanding of the target language, update foreign language teaching concepts, improve teaching methods and improve teaching effects. British and American literature focuses on introducing and studying modern and contemporary literary theories, trying to interpret literary texts from the perspective of linguistic theory. Translation theory and practice mainly introduce modern and contemporary translation theories, pay attention to the comparative study of different translation theories, and pay attention to the combination of theory and translation practice, especially English-Chinese translation practice.
This subject has an academic team with reasonable age, professional title, academic background and knowledge structure. Existing tutor 12, 6 professors and 6 associate professors. The academic leader is Professor Yu Hongliang, and the leaders of various research directions are (in order of the research direction of the enrollment catalogue): Professor Yu Hongliang (the research direction of English linguistics), Professor NIKI (the research direction of British and American literature) and Professor Zhou Lingshun (the research direction of translation theory and practice).
Introduction to foreign linguistics and applied linguistics
This subject was approved by the State Council Academic Degree Office in 2006 and officially enrolled in 2007. There are five research directions in this subject, namely: English-Chinese comparison and translation studies, English applied linguistics, Japanese linguistics, French language and translation studies, and modern Korean studies.
This subject has the foundation and atmosphere of comparative study of foreign languages and Chinese. Offering related courses of foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, as well as compulsory courses of modern Chinese grammar and other Chinese-related majors, lays a foundation for the comparative study of languages. Moreover, the academic resources of small languages can also provide convenience for the comparative study of languages.
The academic characteristics of this subject are distinct, mainly as follows: 1) paying attention to multilingual comparative research; 2) pay attention to the organic combination of translation theory and translation practice, and achieve the purpose of language comparative study through translation research; 3) Pay attention to the characteristics and laws of China students' second language learning, especially the characteristics and laws of college students' oral ability development; 4) Pay attention to the organic combination of scientific research and teaching, and strive to develop teaching materials for English education at all levels.
