Yili vocational and technical college was approved by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In 2002, it was upgraded from three secondary specialized schools: the former Xinjiang Yili Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School, the former Yili Agricultural School and the former Yili Agricultural Mechanization School. It is located in Yining, the capital of Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, which is known as the "South of the Great Wall". It is the only higher vocational college in Yili.
The college has six teaching departments, including animal science department, agricultural engineering department, mechanical and electrical engineering department, basic department, computer information center and ideological and political theory research room. The college currently has three campuses.
It covers an area of 3,277 mu with a building area of over 60,000 square meters. The school has complete facilities, reasonable layout and beautiful environment. There are 35 professional experiment (training) rooms and more than 60 training bases inside and outside the school.
At present, the college has the first national skill appraisal station in Yili, the continuing education base for junior and intermediate professional and technical personnel in Yili, and the Xinjiang grassland animal husbandry demonstration base (Yili base) and other training bases. There are 44 experimental (training) rooms, 60 teaching laboratories, 5 productive training bases, 1 1 multimedia classrooms, 8 computer rooms and 103 off-campus training bases.
