Edward lee thorndike is also the pioneer of animal psychology, the founder of psychological connectionism and the founder of educational psychology system. He put forward a series of learning rules, including practice rules and effect rules.
His main contributions are:
(1) founded the discipline of educational psychology, which differentiated educational psychology from pedagogy and child psychology and became an independent discipline.
② Developed classical associative psychology. His learning psychology runs through the word "connection", so he calls himself a "connectionist". The main feature of his connectionism is to emphasize the connection between situation and reaction, rather than the association or connection between ideas. So the completely objective frame of reference is combined with his psychological theory.
He borrowed a lot of biological and physiological concepts to establish his associative psychology theory, and most of his conclusions were based on psychological experiments. This makes his theory more objective and contributes to the research of experimental psychology.
