Socialist core values answer the important question of what kind of country, society and citizens we want to build. College students are future builders of the country. Strengthening the education of college students' socialist core values is an important way to train college students to be qualified successors of socialist cause, which is related to national development and national rejuvenation. Patriotism is an important content of socialist core values, and the key to educating college students on socialist core values is to firmly grasp patriotism education. The connotation of patriotism not only has its own continuity and stability, but also keeps pace with the times with the passage of time and changes of the times. Patriotism education must be combined with the history and culture of the country and the nation, with the ongoing struggle of the country and the nation, and with the problems of the times that the country and the nation need to solve. At present, patriotism education for college students should focus on the major issues to be solved in socialist core values, constantly enrich their connotations, guide college students to fully understand the relationship between national development goals and development paths, correctly grasp the relationship between China's development and world development, and deeply understand the relationship between national image and national image.

"Prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony" is the value goal of China people's national rejuvenation, which is summarized by China people from the historical experience and lessons of rejuvenating the country since modern times. From the struggle of countless people with lofty ideals to pursue national independence and national prosperity after the Opium War, to the great achievements of revolution, construction and reform and opening up led by China, the people of China have continuously deepened their exploration on how to develop their country and what road to take. "Prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony" reveals the unity of China's development goals and development paths. Patriotism education is to guide college students to fully understand this unity, recognize the necessity of taking the road of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, and establish road confidence, theoretical confidence and institutional confidence. At the same time, we should also guide college students to realize that by choosing the road of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, we have chosen a road different from the rise of western powers. 18 and 19 centuries, the rise of western powers by colonial plunder does not conform to the current trend of the times, nor to the historical, cultural and practical interests of China. We can only realize the Chinese dream through peaceful development, scientific development and harmonious development. This rational choice and persistence in the country's development path will prevent us from going astray, and will not repeat the mistakes of some big countries in history that pursued colonialism and hegemonism and went into decline. Therefore, college students' patriotism education should guide them to deeply understand the connotation of "prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony" in the context of contemporary China, firmly follow the Socialism with Chinese characteristics road, and practice the determination and confidence of peaceful, scientific and harmonious development.

"Freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law" embodies the goals and approaches of social governance in contemporary China. From the perspective of the relationship between China and the world, it also reflects China's understanding of international strategic goals and ways to achieve them. Looking back on the development of diplomatic ideas since the founding of New China, from the "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence" to the idea of building a "harmonious world" to the new security concept in Asia, China's understanding of international order and international relations has been deepened and its diplomatic ideas have been enriched, but its pursuit of democratization and fairness in international relations has been running through. The Government of China has always maintained that freedom of international relations includes not only freedom of investment and trade, but also freedom of countries to choose their own development path according to their national conditions. Equality and justice are not only manifested in the equivalent exchange and national treatment in international trade, but also in the fairness of international rules themselves and the equal rights of all countries to participate in the formulation of rules; China advocates promoting the democratization of international relations, opposing hegemonism and power politics, establishing a more just and rational international economic and financial order, opposing the domination of international judicial practice by a few countries, and opposing the abuse of the international judicial system and litigation rights, and stressing that all countries should take the basic spirit of the UN Charter as the guide and resolve conflicts and disputes through rational dialogue and equal consultation. China regards "freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law" as the value criterion and goal of social governance, and also as the basic criterion of international strategy to promote the development of international order in a balanced and inclusive direction. These basic diplomatic concepts embody China people's philosophy of life and value choice that they want to stand up and succeed, and also embody China people's international outlook that closely links the development of their country with the development of the world. Patriotism education is to guide college students to establish a correct view of international order, always adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, respect the development path chosen by people of all countries according to their national conditions, consciously resist the fallacies of "national power will dominate" and "the conclusion of history" in the West, and profoundly grasp the core spirit and basic position of China's diplomacy; Correctly understand the international code of conduct and the rules for handling differences and contradictions between countries, accurately understand the country's foreign policy, and support the country's diplomatic proposition in a rational way. In addition, we should also cultivate college students' global awareness and global vision, actively support the country's participation in global governance, carry out foreign aid within our capacity, strengthen international cooperation, and jointly meet the challenges of traditional and non-traditional security.

"Patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness" embodies the spiritual pursuit and value standards of contemporary China people, and also reflects the goals and requirements of contemporary China people in the construction of national image to a certain extent. With the in-depth development of economic globalization and informatization, the frequency of personnel exchanges between countries has been accelerating, and the network exchange of data and information has greatly improved the breadth and efficiency of personnel exchanges between countries. The civilized quality, behavior and value orientation of a country's citizens are the business cards of a country, and the national image and the national image have internal identity. Patriotism education is to guide college students to deeply understand this identity, consciously strengthen the cultivation of civilization, start from themselves, and shape a good national image of China with their own words and deeds. Specifically, it is to educate college students to externalize "patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness" into their own behaviors in real life and virtual network society, as well as their behaviors in the process of internal and external communication. We must not only dare to take responsibility, keep our promises, be kind to others, and never do anything that harms others and benefits ourselves, but also insist on treating exchanges and cooperation between different civilizations with an open and inclusive attitude. "The friendship between countries lies in the blind date between people", and the goodwill of people from different countries is undoubtedly an important foundation for the sound development of state relations. This kind of goodwill is based on respect and appreciation of each other's civilization, and is based on friendship and frankness in mutual exchanges. We love our country and are proud of our culture, and we should also respect the civilizations of other countries. We recognize that the diversity of civilizations is the basic feature of world civilization, support the cooperation of different development models, promote the mutual learning of different historical civilizations, strive to be promoters and practitioners of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, add luster to the national image with our own civilized words, and inject more positive energy into the national soft power.
