With the expansion of the scale of higher education in China and the continuous enrollment expansion of colleges and universities, the number of students is increasing, and colleges and universities are also introducing a large number of teachers, and the proportion of young and middle-aged teachers in colleges and universities is increasing.
Many graduate students and doctoral students who have just left campus have joined the ranks of college teachers, and the degree of teachers' youthfulness has improved.
This is especially true in science and engineering colleges.
Take my school as an example. Since the United University was upgraded to an undergraduate course in 2004, the number of new teachers in the school has been more than 80 for three consecutive years, and most of them are graduate students and doctoral students.
Most of these young teachers have received higher education and have undertaken a lot of teaching and scientific research work at school.
Become the main force of teachers.
However, because many young teachers graduated from non-normal schools, they went directly to the podium as soon as they graduated. Although they have high academic qualifications and mastered cutting-edge scientific skills, they are greatly lacking in teaching methods and teaching art due to their lack of teaching experience.
The teaching level and ability of young teachers directly affect the overall teaching quality of the whole school. At the same time, it is also related to whether young teachers can adapt to the education and teaching work in colleges and universities as soon as possible, whether they can be recognized and respected by students and whether they can become qualified university teachers.
Based on the reality of our school, the author talks about how young teachers in colleges and universities should improve their teaching level as soon as possible.
2 Factors that hinder the improvement of the teaching level of young teachers in colleges and universities Most young teachers who have just entered colleges and universities are doctoral and master students who have just left campus. Although the role has changed from student to teacher, it lacks teaching practice and scientific research experience, and the teaching methods and means are single. In addition, when they set foot on their jobs for the first time, they were confused in ideas, teaching methods and teaching art, which often became obstacles to their improvement of teaching level.
2. 1 The ideological situation is complicated. First of all, many young teachers stepped onto the platform as soon as they graduated, and some even taught many courses.
Therefore, there is not enough time to understand the system of teaching materials and grasp the context of the whole course, so I can only prepare lessons while listening to lectures, and I can't study teaching materials, students and design teaching methods well;
Moreover, some young teachers are often eager to become talents. They have great psychological pressure and impetuous emotions in terms of academic qualifications and professional titles, and spend a lot of energy on learning higher academic qualifications and professional titles, which affects their investment in teaching.
Secondly, young teachers face greater economic pressure.
Young teachers are generally between the ages of 25 and 34, and they still face the problem of getting married.
In order to solve the economic pressure, many young teachers choose part-time jobs, which will inevitably bring about insufficient energy and affect the teaching effect.
Thirdly, due to the influence of social factors, the phenomenon that young teachers despise education still exists.
Some young teachers were not interested in education at first, but because they didn't find other better jobs when they graduated, they finally chose teachers as springboard, ready to find opportunities to jump ship;
There are also some young teachers who graduated from famous universities. When I arrive at the school where I work, I always feel dissatisfied and have a strong sense of loss.
This leads to unstable thinking after work, lack of motivation in teaching, lack of initiative in work, and even confusion in thinking. Therefore, there are many mistakes in teaching but they don't want to correct them. Subjectively, they muddle along, which makes them unsuitable for teaching.
2. There are some shortcomings in teaching methods. A good teaching method cannot be formed in a short time. It needs to be explored through teaching practice, which young teachers lack.
Therefore, young teachers generally have shortcomings in teaching methods, and the teaching effect is often unsatisfactory, mainly in the following aspects: (1) Insufficient psychological preparation.
Although many new teachers are very careful in preparing lessons before class, they are confused and nervous when they arrive at the classroom.
A new debut in the field of teaching and research: research on teaching design, teaching methods and daily work of educational papers (2) Teaching attitude is not natural enough.
Many new teachers are nervous, so they don't make eye contact with their students from beginning to end. They always look down at the handout or blackboard and don't know the students' acceptance.
(3) language confusion.
Some new teachers don't have any language barriers in their daily life, but in class, they are often incoherent, disorganized and confused in logical thinking because of nervousness.
More often, students speak too fast and say what they want to say in one breath, which leads to students' thinking can't keep up.
(4) Improvisation is poor.
Although most new teachers are fully prepared before class and the lesson plans are carefully prepared, they are speechless in class.
Some people think a lot of ways to organize classroom teaching before class, but forget all the good teaching materials in class. Finally, they have to talk about it.
2.3 Teaching art needs to be improved. Teaching art is an aspect that young teachers need to improve urgently in teaching.
Young teachers generally have the following problems: first, the teaching language is not concise and lacks the necessary cadence;
Lectures are straightforward, just like endorsements;
Do not teach students in accordance with their aptitude, do not pay attention to heuristic teaching, lack a good atmosphere of interaction between teachers and students, and lack the ability to standardize classroom discipline.
Secondly, the teaching attitude is unnatural and generous.
Pay insufficient attention to appearance and dress too casually;
When teaching, eyes dare not contact with students. Lack of proper body language.
Third, classroom organization can't be carried out effectively.
Although I can skillfully use advanced educational technology, I only face the computer in classroom teaching, regardless of students' expressions and reflections, and only care about my own teaching, regardless of students' learning.
Can not stimulate students' interest and enthusiasm in learning.
How should young teachers in colleges and universities improve their teaching level? 3. 1 First, solve ideological problems. If young teachers want to improve their teaching level as soon as possible, they must first solve their own ideological problems.
First of all, correctly handle the relationship between teaching and personal success.
There is no contradiction between good teaching and personal success, and it can even be said that it can promote it.
Young teachers must establish a correct concept of success and make reasonable plans. First of all, we should stand firm on the platform and be a "qualified" university teacher, and then strive for perfection to promote personal growth.
Secondly, in the face of economic pressure, on the one hand, young teachers need to establish correct values.
Don't make economic comparison with the students who work hard in the company, but get life satisfaction in the process of teaching and educating people.
Schools will also create good living conditions for young teachers and urge them to devote themselves to teaching and scientific research activities.
Thirdly, young teachers should correctly evaluate their own strength and believe that they can do well.
For those young teachers with unstable thoughts, we must strengthen the study of teachers' morality.
3.2 Learn from the old teachers with an open mind. Excellent old teachers have profound knowledge, professional proficiency, solid basic teaching skills, high teaching level and strong education.
Understand the laws of education and have rich practical experience in scientific research.
If young teachers study with an open mind, they will make teaching less detours and avoid wasting valuable teaching time in the wrong way.
Transfer young teachers to learn from old teachers: how to organize teaching materials;
How to implement the heuristic principle in teaching;
How to deal with difficulties and highlight key points;
The use of humorous language;
Vivid production, life and examples;
Control of information and progress: layout of blackboard writing and layout.
3.3 Make a good preparation for teaching. Preparing lessons should be fully in the five links of teaching (preparing lessons, giving lectures, tutoring, correcting homework and assessing), and preparing lessons is the first.
Fully prepared before class, class will be handy, thinking will be smooth, and students' enthusiasm will be fully mobilized.
On the other hand, if the course is not fully prepared, there will often be some short circuits in the classroom, which will inevitably affect the fluency of the whole course.
And to prepare lessons well, I think we must work hard from the following aspects.
(1) research outline.
As a guiding document of teaching, the syllabus stipulates the teaching purpose, requirements and overall framework of a course.
Therefore, teachers must carefully study the syllabus, thoroughly understand the spirit of the syllabus, and ensure that teaching has a clear direction.
Therefore, we should understand the teaching purpose and task of the course from the overall knowledge, master the overall structure of the course, knowledge system and the relationship with other courses, so as to grasp the teaching direction and reflect the requirements of the overall teaching objectives;
It is necessary to understand the status, functions and internal relations of each chapter, master the essentials of each chapter, determine the teaching focus, and lay a good foundation for formulating and compiling teaching plans.
(2) Understand the basic situation of students.
Teaching activity is a process of two-way interaction between teachers and students. Therefore, when preparing lessons, teachers should not only prepare the knowledge to be taught, but also consider the target students and understand their knowledge base, ability and learning needs. Only in this way can they have a clear aim in the teaching process, set appropriate teaching objectives, choose appropriate teaching content and adopt appropriate teaching methods, so as to achieve better teaching results.
(3) Mastering the content of teaching materials.
When preparing lessons, we should carefully understand the content of the textbook, then arrange the content order, and then determine the purpose, focus and difficulties of this lecture.
And according to the content of each part, consider the corresponding teaching methods.
In teaching, we should consider how to ask questions, the connection and transition between contents, what examples to give, how to highlight key points, how to alleviate difficulties and so on around the teaching purpose.
3.4 timely adjust and summarize their own teaching. As a young teacher, there are inevitably some problems and shortcomings in the teaching process. Therefore, we must pay attention to students' expressions and reactions in class, so as to constantly adjust the teaching speed and teaching content according to the situation and receive satisfactory teaching results.
In addition to observing in class, after class, teachers can also find out their thoughts and views on their lectures by holding small student forums, distributing teaching information questionnaires or talking with individual students in their spare time.
You can also learn about students' knowledge by correcting their homework and exams at ordinary times, and then summarize and analyze these situations, and strive to improve teaching methods and improve teaching level.
3.5 Participate in scientific research and other work, and constantly improve their professional level. As a teacher, you need profound knowledge.
There is a saying: "Give students a drop of water, teachers should have a bucket of water", and college teachers are no exception.
Young teachers have just left school and have a certain degree of understanding of their professional knowledge, but they are limited to the knowledge taught by the old teachers during their school days, lacking practical training, and there is still a certain distance from the requirements of a qualified teacher.
Therefore, young teachers should enter the role as soon as possible, constantly improve their professional knowledge level, understand the new trend of subject development, and at the same time understand the relevant marginal knowledge, so as to broaden their knowledge, improve their knowledge structure, enrich and deepen teaching content and improve teaching quality.
Participating in scientific research is the basis of improving teaching level, which requires teachers to concentrate on improving their teaching level and scientific research level.
Young teachers, in particular, should make use of their energetic characteristics, pay attention to the latest research methods and practical engineering applications related to the curriculum, and explain the relationship between the curriculum and the frontier of disciplines and modern industries with their own engineering teaching experience.
At the same time, it is planned to go underground to the grassroots and production research departments to participate in technical practice, which can enrich young teachers' knowledge of production practice, make teaching more purposeful and targeted, and enrich teaching content.
3.6 Give full play to the advantages of young teachers. Most young teachers have graduated from well-known regular colleges and universities, received systematic professional training, have a high academic level, have advantages in computers and foreign languages, have a young mind and are easy to communicate with students. At the same time, they have just started to work, full of energy and high enthusiasm for work.
These are the advantages of young teachers. For example, young teachers can make full use of their advantages in computer application. First of all, they should try to make multimedia courseware, which is also a way to improve students' learning enthusiasm.
There are also many young teachers who participated in many scientific research projects with their tutors during their study. These are the frontiers of their subjects. They can give students a brief introduction in class, and students are generally interested in these.
Therefore, although young teachers lack practical work experience, as long as they seize the opportunity and give full play to their advantages, they will certainly make great progress in teaching level and win the general welcome of students.
Conclusion Young teachers need not only time and external force, but also their own efforts to improve teaching content, master teaching methods and improve scientific research level.
I believe that through continuous efforts, repeated practice and exploration, young teachers will be able to stand on the platform better and become a new force active in the front line of teaching and private education.
