Before going abroad, I said I yearned for foreign high-quality educational environment and resources; Say you want to experience fresh cultural and human differences; Say that you don't want to be a member of the five insurances and one gold in society so early. ...
With more and more people coming into contact, many students who first applied to go abroad from Hanyi have graduated now, and some people who have been going abroad for some time ask when chatting again: Do you think it will bring you the same meaning as originally imagined after going abroad?
Basically, all I hear are surprising and unexpected stories.

When I was an undergraduate, I always thought that fabric was an auxiliary design of fashion design, and it was a process of adding points and colors to fashion design. For clothing, fabric is the icing on the cake "tool". At that time, in Beifu, the most contact was digital printing.
Until I went to UAL- Chelsea to continue studying textiledesign, which completely broke my understanding of fabric design at the undergraduate level.
Now I think fabric design is the basis of fashion design, which can provide more possibilities and creativity, but it is not the concept of who serves whom, who is the red flower and who is the green leaf.
To learn fabrics, designers need to jump out of the cognitive boundary of fashion design and understand from a broader perspective. Clothing design can also be the expression carrier of fabric design.
I met a very good and inspiring professor; But I am more grateful to those professors who curse when they disagree. Sometimes it seems that depression can actually stimulate a person's real potential and deep thinking.
No one wants what they have worked so hard to do to be called rubbish and that they don't care about joking, so they can only rack their brains to find out why they want to do it. Those descriptions that they racked their brains in the state of non-native language, the collapse of an idea in the morning, made them what they are today.

New york Fashion Institute, Illustrator, Master of Arts.
I am a person with my own ideas. When I applied for colleges and universities, I gave up my first year's offer and studied painting in China for another year. After I was really ready, I went to new york, which I had been longing for for for a long time.
After three years' postgraduate course in illustration, I entered the only flying distance in the United States. In the form of attending classes at night and on weekends, I realized that the educational atmosphere of a college can be so free, and I can travel through new york City during the day to listen to the city and my own voice.
In my opinion, only freedom can make the love of art last forever.
The major of FIT Illustration MFA is only about 10 years, which is a relatively short time in the education industry. I think this is just an advantage of Fit. Because of my young age, I haven't formed a fixed model in teaching, and the course is more inclusive and free. There are eleven people in our class, each with a different style. This teaching method is very suitable for illustration design that emphasizes personal style.
My class members are very diverse, which is very different from those in China. Most of my classmates are elites in the industry, such as children illustrators and graphic designers who have published several books, and Art editor of the publishing house. They will also look at things from a completely different perspective from pure students. With them, you can experience art from different angles and have a more comprehensive understanding of the illustration industry.
The collision of ideas between classmates has become a high-value study time. The confrontation between business and pure art, the collision between graphic design and installation art, and the expansion of thinking are always carried out on a large scale. Sometimes my design may be torn, and they will pull my thoughts back and tell me that it would be better to look at it from another angle. Moreover, I have never used the method of sketching before, which is a very objective influence brought by my friends around me.
Because many students are working people, this kind of "high-definition" course is a means to broaden our horizons on the one hand, and on the other hand, it also allows us to see how others work and how other people's works are related to business, and then compare them with our own work and get inspiration from them.

Master of Architectural Design, University of Sheffield
In the undergraduate stage, "unreasonable" is what teachers often say.
For example, I want to use the distance of 25m between two activity spaces to design a building space. As a result, my teachers in China said it was unreasonable because it conflicted with the public's cognition and conditions of use.
In fact, living conditions are constantly changing, and people's minds are constantly adapting to the environment. Whether the building is reasonable or not should not be confined to a small framework to think about.
The freedom of domestic educational methods is very low, and many inspirations are stifled before they are formed, which makes it difficult for people to make good designs.
Later, during my one-year study in Sheffield, England, I went through more than a dozen countries and experienced the architecture of each country, which I couldn't get without going out.
And the most obvious feeling is that the protection of buildings abroad is better than that at home, much better. The renovation of old buildings is a global issue, and China has gradually begun to pay attention to it, but the intensity is far from enough. However, foreign countries will try their best to carry out their ideas. For example, a French castle I saw before was really transformed into a modern hotel by the designer.
Fortunately, I read a lot, which is much more meaningful than drawing at school.

Art center college of design, Master of Industrial Design.
I studied media design practice in art center college of design for one year, and now I major in gradient industrial design.
When I was studying MediaDesignPractices in the first semester, I felt that this major was not very commercialized and market-oriented. On the contrary, it pays more attention to concepts, technology and criticism of capitalist sequence. It can be said that this major has a strong personality and is not suitable for everyone.
Later, at the end of the first semester, I decided to turn to a more commercial direction. At that time, many options were considered, such as MHCI-D of UW, InterationDesign of CCA, MediaLab and GradID of ACCD. Later, GradID was selected, and I successfully turned to the direction I wanted to learn.
It should be difficult to change majors in China, right? Fortunately, in the United States, transfer is relatively free. In particular, if you change your major on campus, you can transfer as long as you pass the interview of the dean and sign it.

Because I used to work in a design company, my understanding of plane at first was to convey the information that customers wanted to express through commercial posters. The LOGO should be big! Products should be outstanding! Posters should be eye-catching! Draw red envelopes! Rebate promotion! Let consumers see it! Customers want more information, but they don't think too much about the beauty of pictures.
Geyi's CommunicationDesign includes three directions, namely commercial photography, illustration and graphic design. Although my main direction now is illustration, the teacher will never limit your visual language, but will encourage students to try it with different media, and you will be exposed to unimaginable possibilities.
The teacher with illustrations is a very meticulous person. He won't interfere with your thoughts too much, but he will help you find ways to study. For example, some time ago, he gave me a whole paper, which I finished a long time ago. ....
This teacher seems to be strict, and his grades are never soft. In fact, he is very kind at heart. Some time ago, he told me that there was a student from China who didn't adapt to the environment here because of some obstacles in English. He asked me if I could help him. I feel that foreign teachers really exist to help students solve problems.
Tutor's suggestion
There are also several impressive answers. After the college entrance examination, I lost the spur, wasted time and didn't know what the goal was. I don't find that I have a special obsession or love for something. Eating and drinking all day, skipping classes and falling in love;
Later, when I was studying abroad, I felt that I had changed a little. Now it's really cool to watch yourself make steady progress in the process of pursuing your goals.
After listening to these people's sharing, I feel that I can go to a wider world and get to know myself by the way. This is really a very lucky thing.
