Chen Heqin believes that the purpose of life education is a progressive three levels, namely, "being a man, being a China person and being a modern China person".

First of all, education is a social activity to cultivate people. Its starting point is people, and its purpose is people. Education should first make people clear about the purpose, significance and value of life, free people from traditional habitual identity and make people become conscious people.

Secondly, apart from commonness, people always live in a specific class and historical environment. So I put forward the second level-to be a China person. This level requires training every citizen to have patriotic qualities of loving the motherland, loving the people, defending the motherland and building the motherland.

Finally, being a "modern China person" at the third level reflects the epochal nature of the purpose of life education. Chen Heqin especially pointed out the specific conditions that "being a modern China person" should have: having a sound body; Have the ability to build; Have creative ability; Able to cooperate; Have the spirit of service. It combines the spirit of the times with the national conditions and people's feelings, which makes it gain new significance in physical, intellectual and moral aspects.
