The first country in the world to popularize compulsory education.
Germany. 1763, king Friedrich William II of Prussia issued a decree stipulating that all provinces in Prussia must provide free education for all children aged 8- 12. This is the first time in the world that a country has made compulsory education universal by law, marking the birth of the compulsory education system. Subsequently, many European countries followed the example of Prussia and implemented the compulsory education system.
