I strengthened my memory of some high-frequency words and corrected some wrong or inaccurate memories, thus improving the ability of SAT to read articles and other English articles.

The improvement of reading needs to start from two aspects:

The first aspect is the cultivation of reading ability. Reading ability needs to be improved by memorizing words and reading a lot. When I took the PSAT for the first time, my reading score was 53, because I just arrived in the United States at that time, and my words were weak and my reading speed was slow. Because studying in the United States requires reading textbooks and memorizing some vocabulary, reading ability and scores have been improved to some extent.

The second aspect is problem-solving skills. In the early stage of preparing for the SAT, we should downplay the importance of skills, because reading ability is the core of the SAT and an essential ability to study in the United States. However, when reading ability is improved to a certain extent, it will encounter bottlenecks. Sometimes articles and topics can be understood, but they just make mistakes. Other works with too much slang and oral expression, such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, are also not suitable for preparing for the SAT. The improvement of composition is a long-term process. When I first came to study in the United States, I felt that my well-written articles were surrounded by many unnatural places by teachers. English teaching in China places too much emphasis on passive voice (which should be avoided as much as possible) and imprecise usage, while English writing emphasizes the diversity of vocabulary and sentence patterns (but avoid lengthy usage). At the same time, some important grammatical details, such as dangling modifiers, are also ignored in senior high school English classes. Therefore, the improvement of composition also needs to be based on reading a large number of standardized English discourses, and needs the guidance of people familiar with English writing.
