Guilin Institute of Information Technology is located in Guilin, a famous historical and cultural city with the best scenery in the world. The school's predecessor, School of Information Technology, Guilin University of Electronic Technology, was founded in 200 1. In 2004, the Ministry of Education confirmed the school as an independent college. In 2006, the school was renamed School of Information Technology, Guilin University of Electronic Technology. In May, 20021,with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was transformed into an independent private college at the undergraduate level and renamed as "Guilin Institute of Information Technology".
The school recruits full-time undergraduates from 23 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), with more than 2500 students/kloc-0. At present, there are 9 secondary units and 34 majors, including School of Information Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Business, School of Creative Design, School of Foreign Trade and Foreign Languages, School of Physical Education and Health, School of Marxism and Mathematics Teaching and Research Section.
