Qiu, the first (57th) senior high school graduate, was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering with 1999. Won the first prize of national scientific and technological progress, the second prize of national technological invention and the first and second prizes of scientific and technological progress of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, and was awarded the title of "Young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions".
