Xuchang University was founded in 1977, located in Weidu District, Xuchang City, Henan Province. The school is an ordinary undergraduate college which focuses on undergraduate education and develops harmoniously. It is the only undergraduate college in Henan Province that cooperates with the State Forestry Administration.

The school now has 13 secondary colleges, namely, College of Literature, School of Journalism and Communication, School of Foreign Languages, School of History, Culture and Law and Politics, School of Mathematics and Science, School of Chemistry and Environmental Science, School of Life Sciences, School of Physical Education, School of Art, School of Education and Management, School of Political Science and Law, and School of Marxism.

At present, there are about 40 thousand full-time undergraduates in the school. Adhering to the motto of "diligence, truth-seeking, innovation and win-win", the school is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents to meet the needs of social and local development and has made positive contributions to national and local economic development.
