Qinghai University for Nationalities is the earliest university established on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, one of the earliest universities for nationalities established in New China, and one of the first units in China to award master's degrees. It is a university jointly established by the Qinghai Provincial People's Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, and it has been selected as the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions of China, the national cultural quality education base for college students, and the national new engineering research and practice project.
