JMU (Liverpool Johns Mures University) was founded in 1823 and named after Sir John Mures. At first, it was a small-scale polytechnic (Liverpool Institute of Technology and Literature). After hundreds of years of growth and integration, it merged different institutions and eventually became Liverpool Institute of Technology. Under the impetus of "Sustainability and Higher Education Act" promulgated by the British government 1992, it was upgraded to a university with the new name of Liverpool Johns Mures University. Located in the center of Liverpool, Liverpool Johns Mures University has 24,000 students and more than 2,500 teachers from more than 80 countries around the world. The history of the school can be traced back to the establishment of the Liverpool Merchant and Apprentice Library in 1823. 1970, several universities in Liverpool merged to form Liverpool Institute of Technology. 1992 Liverpool Johns Mures University was built by royal charter. At present, the number of students in school is about 2050.
