In order to popularize and strengthen national defense education, carry forward patriotism, and promote national defense construction and socialist spiritual civilization construction, the National Defense Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) is formulated in accordance with the National Defense Law and the Education Law. The 21st meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress of People's Republic of China (PRC) NPC was adopted on April 28th, 20001.It is now promulgated by Decree No.52 of the President of the People's Republic of China and shall come into force as of the date of promulgation.

The promulgation and implementation of "National Defense Education Law" indicates that China government attaches importance to and strengthens national defense education. National defense education is an important way to cultivate citizens' national consciousness, national consciousness and sense of responsibility, which is of great significance to maintaining national security and social stability.
