How many vowels are there?
There are 39 vowels in Chinese Pinyin, but only 24 in our study and education. It includes 6 single vowels, 9 compound vowels, 4 postnasal vowels and 5 anterior nasal vowels.

The structure of vowels usually consists of three parts, namely, rhyme head, rhyme belly and rhyme end. For example, the relatively rare rhyme ian, I is the rhyme head, A is the rhyme belly, and N is the rhyme end. The most important part of vowels is the rhyme belly, which is the loudest and clearest when pronounced. Of course, not all vowels must have these three parts, and the beginning and end are not necessary.

Extended data:

The vowels are a, o, e, mi, er, I (front), I (back) or a, o, e.

Vowels with the first letter I or I, such as iou, iao, ie and ia.

Vowels starting with u or u, such as ua, uo, uai, uei.

Vowels ≤ or vowels starting with ≤ such as üe, ün and üan.

All vowels are nasal vowels, except that nasal vowels end with a consonant. The pronunciation point of non-nasalized vowels is that the soft palate is always upturned, blocking the nasal passage of airflow. If the position of the soft palate is not good, air will leak from the nasal cavity and mouth at the same time, and vowels will become nasal vowels. In Mandarin, nasal vowels only appear in children's syllables.

Monovowel vowel

A vowel composed of vowels is called a vowel, also called a vowel. The pronunciation characteristics of vowels in single vowels are consistent mouth shape and tongue position from beginning to end. There are ten vowels in Mandarin: A, O, E, Mi, I, U, ü, -i (front), -i (back) and er.

compound vowel

A vowel composed of two or three vowels is called a compound vowel. There are thirteen vowels in Mandarin: ai, ei, ao, ou, ia, ie, ua, uo, üe, iao, iou, uai and uei. According to the position of the main vowel, vowels can be divided into pre-voiced vowels, middle-voiced vowels and post-voiced vowels. ? Diphthongs is a special form of compound vowel.
