Xiangya Medical College of Central South University is an affiliated college of Central South University. It is one of the first batch of pilot universities in China, one of the first batch of university medical schools jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, and one of the ten subordinate comprehensive university medical schools jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.
The World Federation of Medical Education and the Special Committee on International Medical Education are one of the two institutions that carry out the pilot study of two standards at the same time in China, and one of the first five institutions that pilot eight-year medical education.

There are 9 doctoral programs in first-class disciplines, 62 doctoral programs in two disciplines, 67 master programs in first-class disciplines, 5 professional degree authorization programs and 7 post-doctoral mobile stations. The discipline of basic medicine ranked first in the national discipline evaluation of the State Council Degree Center from 2007 to 2009. ESI (essential science indicators) ranks among the top four disciplines in the world: clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, neuroscience and behavioral science 1%.
