Scholarships and grants for freshmen can usually be guaranteed until the spring semester of the fifth year (if it takes five years to complete the degree). Most of the aid is in the form of scholarships and grants (about 15 per year). Normal financial aid includes a one-year scholarship and must be used in the first year of study. The first-year scholarship enables students to focus on core courses. Subsequent financial aid is usually in the form of postgraduate research grants and assistantships.
