At present, there are two kinds of textbooks used by junior middle school students: People's Education Edition (New Target) and Hebei Education Edition (commonly known as Hebei Education Edition). These two textbooks cover most schools in the country.

The difference between the two textbooks is that the compilation members of the PEP textbook are the Institute of Curriculum Textbooks of People's Education Publishing House, the Research and Development Center of English Curriculum Textbooks and cengage learning of the United States. Therefore, the English category used in PEP textbooks is American English. Hebei Education Publishing House and DC Canada International Exchange Center are members of Hebei Education Edition textbooks. So the English category used in Hebei Education Edition is British English. The length of the paper is large, and the selected articles cover a wide range, but the timeliness is not strong. From the content point of view, people's education edition focuses on language application ability, while Hebei education edition focuses on learning basic things.

However, both textbooks are based on the examination syllabus, and it has little influence on the senior high school entrance examination.
