Shenzhen Museum is the first cultural institution in Shenzhen, established in 198 1. It is a large-scale museum integrating collection, protection, research, exhibition and education, with a main museum and branches.

On August 26th, 1980, Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was established. 198 1 In August, Guangdong Provincial Museum Cultural Relics Team, together with Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture and Shenzhen Library, went to Shenzhen to conduct a general survey of cultural relics in the whole city, conducted archaeological excavations on some sites and ancient tombs, and unearthed and collected a large number of cultural relics.

In order to collect and study these cultural relics and show the history and culture of Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Organizing Committee approved the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Museum on June1981kloc-0/7, and later renamed it Shenzhen Museum, and changed it to Shenzhen Museum in early 2008.
