China University of Mining and Technology is named China University of Mining and Technology in Jiangsu and China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) in Beijing. Before 2009, it was named China University of Mining and Technology Beijing Campus.

Since the establishment of 1997 Beijing Campus, the two places have been different subjects of running schools, and they have enrolled students independently and their admission scores are different. China University of Mining and Technology is the first mining institution of higher learning in New China, and it is also a world-famous mining institution. The school can be traced back to Jiaozuo Road and Mine School, which was founded in 1909. 1938 merged with Engineering College of Northeastern University, Engineering College of Beiping University and Engineering College of Beiyang University to form National Northwest Institute of Technology. Due to historical changes, the school headquarters in Xuzhou and the Beijing campus have gradually evolved into two independent running entities.
